about metropolis modern artThe Metropolis project was launched in 2004 by Peter Maycock and his daughter Lucie Maycock, based in Chesterfield, Derbyshire.
It all began in 1990, when Peter aquired his first Apple Macintosh computer and a copy of 'Digital Darkroom', a piece of cheap software, bundled with his first scanner - this is when the world first heard the expression 'digital image manipulation'. The coming together of a lifetime's involvement in various forms of art and the new creative technology was the single most important breakthrough in his life - and the results are amazing. Lucie Maycock studied photography, printmaking and drawing at university, but drifted from one discipline to another never finding the medium that would fulfill her creative needs. She too instantly understood the importance of the new digital art and is now a prolific artist in this field, producing art on computer from greeting cards to huge canvasses. |
