abstract modern art

For many people abstract art is a "love it or hate it" situation - it is not usual for people to have an undecided view on this subject.

Abstract artHowever, a century and a half of modern art has abstract art at its very core. One of the fundamental requirements of good art is to elicit some kind of feeling - happy or sad, serious or flippant, in the observer.

In real terms, this is harder to achieve with abstract art as it is easy in figurative art to let the subject engage the emotions, for instance a realistic picture of a battle scene or a starving child.

Abstract artists are, in general terms, more likely to experiment with extreme styles, making big pictures that dominate the space in which they are exhibited.

Abstract art produced by artists like Jackson Pollock, Willem de Kooning and Mark Rothko have changed the perception of what art is all about - they challenge the viewer with abstract visions that makes one feel that there is something special going on.

Abstract art is ideal for hotels, boardrooms, offices and public spaces.
